This Earth science class uses an inquiry-based approach to learning where students take the role
of investigating science phenomena. Students are encouraged to take the initiative to observe and qustion their surroundings;
pose explanations about what they see; devise and conduct tests to support and/or contradict theories; analyze data; draw
conclusions from experimental data; and design and build models.
In other words:
Where else can you study the stars, volcanoes, hurricanes, rocks and thunderstorms?
Have you ever laid on a bed of sharp nails? See sunspots move across the Sun? Design and test a solar car?
Learn how to go geocaching with a hand-held GPS? See the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn?
If you would like to try these activities you are in the right class, Mr. M's Earth Science.
